Trying to tone your abs is one of the hardest things to do. It takes a very long time and a lot of dedication to start seeing results. Why do body weight exercises? Because they are convenient and easier to fit in around a busy schedule. A lot of people see toned abs as a sign of being fit which isn’t necessarily the case. You can be fit and healthy without toned abs. however, it does give you something to boast about and impress your friends about.

First of all, we have the Plank. This is probably one of the most well-known of all the ab body weight exercises, and for good reason. They have more benefits than just toning your abs, though, they also improve your balance and posture, especially when done in the side plank position as this is requiring to focus on balance as well. Fitting planks into your exercise routine are sure to start building up those abs.

Doing bicycles will definitely get you to feel the burn in your abs. They require a lot of strength and stamina in your abdomen to do correctly. Furthermore, they are definitely one of the best body weight exercises for abs. They also work great as a calorie burner, really helping you to burn off that belly fat.

Crunches are a great core workout, they work by exercising your rectus abdominous, which is the muscle that goes from your rib cage to your pubic bone. They are also another form of body weight exercises that work great for improving posture. An essential in toning your abs.

This exercise is done by lying on your back and raising your feet around six inches high. This is a great exercise for your abs. However, you should be careful if you suffer from lower back pain.

Finally, we have Leg raises. These are similar to the six inches but this time you want to lift your legs as high as you can. Really trying to get full range and motion in your movements so you can reap the benefits. You want to try to keep your legs straight and your lower back remaining on the floor. This is so you know you are really using the right muscles. Consequently, you should really feel some strain in your lower abdomen with this one.
